Marirose Serkowski '05
Marirose Serkowski quickly rose to prominence as one of the brightest young talents in the Rhinebeck girls basketball program. As a freshman, she teamed up with eighth-grader Alanna Woody to form a dynamic one-two scoring punch that gave the Hawks a formidable offensive presence. Known for her silky smooth jump shot and range from beyond the arc, Serkowski became one of the Mid-Hudson Athletic League’s top three-point shooters, tallying 31 threes in a single season.
Her dedication to the game was matched by her versatility. A multi-sport athlete, she also excelled in volleyball, while balancing academics and training. Beyond her natural shooting touch, Serkowski sharpened her game through hours of practice, developing an accurate long-range shot by playing countless games of H-O-R-S-E and Around the World with her sister, Natalie, a standout at Our Lady of Lourdes.
Despite her youth, Serkowski displayed maturity and leadership, helping transform Rhinebeck into a competitive program. Her work ethic and vision extended beyond the court as well—she expressed aspirations in science and physical therapy, reflecting her balanced approach to sports and academics.
In time, her consistent scoring and deep shooting range would earn her a place in Rhinebeck’s storied history, as she went on to become one of only a few players in program history to surpass 1,000 career points.
