USMC Distinguished Athlete Award
Open to Juniors and Seniors who are exemplary citizens and role models for younger students and their peers. This award is designed to honor a deserving, yet possible unsung athlete. The recipient need not be your most outstanding athlete, but one who exhibits the personal traits of courage, poise, self confidence, and leadership.
MHAL Senior Scholar Athletes
Each year the Mid-Hudson Athletic League recognizes two student athletes from each of its 18 member schools as Senior Scholar Athletes. These athletes are chosen by the Athletic Director and High School Principal based upon their academic record, athletic participation and community involvement. These students are honored by the league at the annual MHAL Scholar Athlete Breakfast.
Nat Oxley Memorial Award
This award is given in memory of Nat Oxley who was dedicated to the sport of running by participating in Cross Country and Track. Nat spent each day striving to improve his ability and acted as an ambassador for these sports.
Ralph Stuart Memorial Award
This award is given in memory of Ralph Stuart who very successfully coached soccer at Rhinebeck for many years. He was inducted in the Dutchess County Soccer Hall of Fame. This award is given to the student athletes who share Ralph’s passion for soccer.
The Maggie O'Malley Coaches' Award
Maggie O’Malley was a three sport Varsity Athlete who tragically passed away in 2006. In 2007 this award was named in memory of Maggie as tribute to her, her family, and her teammates because whenever Maggie’s comes up everyone remembers what a Caring, Dedicated, and Devoted Athlete, Student and Teammate she was. The Maggie O’Malley Coaches Award is given to graduating seniors who have shown great dedication to the Athletic Program at Rhinebeck through either participation on a team or in support of their fellow classmates.
Charles Sherman Sportsmanship Award
Math teacher and coach of Soccer, Basketball, and Golf for many years. His sense of fair play and sportsmanship were extremely evident as his teams always represented the school with honor and dignity.
Shirley Ayers Sportsmanship Award
Physical Education teacher from 1970-75, an avid dancer and swimmer. Her message was to represent yourself and your school with class and dignity.
Joseph E. Hill Memorial - Outstanding Senior Male
Captain of the Basketball and Baseball teams from 1938-1940. He was a leader and catalyst for all of the teams he played on. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy and was medically discharged due to polio. After passing away his sister Wilma Nee donated the money for this award to keep his memory alive.
Outstanding Senior Athlete - Female
The Outstanding Female Senior Athlete is awarded to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding skill in their sport on the field, court, or course while at the same time showing great leadership to their teams and dedication to their school.
