Carl Hulle '61
Carl Hulle was the driving force behind Rhinebeck High School basketball in the early 1960s. A dominant scorer and relentless rebounder, Hulle consistently led the Indians on both ends of the court. His presence in the paint made him a matchup nightmare, and he quickly established himself as one of the premier players in the region.
During the 1960–61 season, Hulle spearheaded a Rhinebeck squad that compiled an impressive 13–5 record, including key victories over rivals Red Hook and Staatsburg, which secured the team’s place in the sectional playoffs. His leadership and consistent production were central to the team’s success.
Hulle’s crowning achievement came when he became a member of the 1,000-point club, etching his name into Rhinebeck history as one of the school’s elite scorers. His ability to score with power and efficiency, combined with his commanding presence on the boards, made him the “big man” of the Indians during his era.
